IHS provides a stipend to offset your cost of travel to the program. Your stipend request can include roundtrip air/trainfare, ground transportation, and meals in transit. Stipends are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and we may not award the entirety of the requested amount.




You are a resident alien of the United States for tax purposes if you meet either the green card test or the substantial presence test for the calendar year (January 1-December 31). This status may apply if you have an F-1 Visa or J-1 Visa. The Institute for Humane Studies cannot advise you on your tax residency status. If you are unsure, please consult a tax professional, international students' office, or the US Internal Revenue Service website.
